Upgrading special weapons in Elden Ring requires a steady supply of specialized materials, which can be difficult to locate in large quantities during early exploration. Finding the Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing 1 allows players to purchase unlimited amounts of tier 1 and tier 2 Somber Smithing Stones directly from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold. Securing this vital key item significantly streamlines character progression for unique weapon builds.
Exact Location of Sellia Crystal Tunnel
The Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing 1 is located inside the Sellia Crystal Tunnel in the Caelid region. Players can reach this dangerous subterranean cave system by traveling east from Limgrave or by opening a trap chest inside the Dragon-Burnt Ruins. Navigating the treacherous tunnels leads directly to a formidable boss arena hidden at the deepest level.
Inside the cave, glintstone miners and insectoid pests guard narrow wooden platforms that crisscross high cliffs. While brave adventurers can sprint past most minor enemies, equipping heavy physical armor and toxin resistance is highly recommended. Reaching the heavy wooden doors at the far end of the upper tunnels grants access to the final boss room.
Defeating the Fallingstar Beast
To earn the bell bearing, players must defeat the Fallingstar Beast residing within the crystal cavern. This aggressive quadrapedal boss uses wide tail sweeps, gravity magic, and rapid charge attacks that demand disciplined dodging timing. Successfully defeating this creature rewards you with the key item alongside a solid bundle of runes.
Utilizing posture-breaking physical attacks or heavy jump strikes will open up critical damage opportunities against the creature's armored hide. Maintaining a slight distance gives players ample time to react whenever the beast prepares its telegraphed gravity beam attack. Once the encounter concludes, the item automatically enters your inventory.
Unlocking Unlimited Upgrades at Roundtable Hold
After acquiring the item, fast travel to the Roundtable Hold and navigate to the room containing the Twin Maiden Husks. Select the option to offer a bell bearing from the dialogue menu and hand over the fresh key item. This action permanently updates their shop inventory for the remainder of your playthrough.
With the item submitted, you can purchase Somber Smithing Stones 1 and 2 endlessly using standard runes. This convenience allows you to upgrade multiple unique armaments up to plus four without wasting time searching for single items across the open world. Investing runes into these basic materials provides a strong power spike before entering mid-game regions.
